It is with great pride that I present to you my collaboration with les éditions du Petit Véhicule for the realization of the illustrations of the book entitled "Letter to Murielle on poetry and her soul" written by Luc Vidal.

Before telling you more about the book itself, let me introduce you to les éditions du Petit Véhicule 🐘.

  • Created by Luc Vidal (publisher and writer) as well as some good friends such as Stéphane Beau, Jean-Claude Padioleau, Georges Fargeas, Olivier Delettre, and JC Kiarkk to name only them. This associative publishing house offers books designed, printed on-site, and bound manually in the Chinese way. I also participated in all the stages of the creation of our book, which allowed me to follow the stages of the creation of a book from its conception to its publication, and what an enriching experience!

  • The editions of the Small Vehicle give pride of place to poetry, novels, essays, and song. They also developed a policy of journals: Notebooks of studies of the poets of the school of Rochefort, Notebooks of studies Léo Ferré, Notebooks Jules Paressant, Incognita (replacing Signes), the Almanac and the latest arrival Chiendents. Their goal is to "work for the substance of a culture, for a permanence of life, of the spirit, by following the paths of creation open to all". The spirit of the work undertaken by this publishing house is that of Baudelairian correspondence. The arts, in their diversity, respond to each other, support each other, merge, and separate to find their original source.

A remarkable publisher for unique editions.

Working with them means first of all working with Luc Vidal. A passionate man, lover of words and images, who seeks to offer quality, different works that mark the spirits. And that's exactly what we tried to do with "Letter to Murielle on poetry and her soul". This book tells the story of Orpheus from the river: his head, thrown into the Hebre, the river of Thrace, came to rest on the shores of the island of Lesbos, the land of Poetry, where there was an oracle of Orpheus in a cave. The Muses, weeping, collected the limbs of Orpheus to bury them at the foot of Mount Olympus, at Leibethres, in Thessaly.

The illustrations are an ode to poetry and nature.🌿

  • In this book, I was able to express my passion for watercolor and colored pencils. It contains 10 color drawings as well as 4 in black and white. I represented the banks of the Thracian river and the female silhouette that embodies Orpheus, playing with light, reflections in the water, and the presence of marvelous fish. This project allowed me to develop my artistic style while working on a book that highlights the beauty of poetry.

  • For me, this collaboration was a unique opportunity to work with a publishing house that promotes poetry and literature. les éditions du Petit Véhicule has a philosophy that suits me perfectly, that of working for artistic creation open to all. A very enriching experience that makes me want to be able to carry out other projects like this one! ✍️
